Sharing photos from my work session on January 22

This time I was experimenting. It started as just Amsterdam’s blue-green and white acrylic paint. Then I decided to add shades of orange, first using the oil pastels. I tried blending them with my finger but didn’t like the results I was getting – not enough blend! So I decided to add a little sunflower seed oil. YES, you read that right. It resulted in a much better blend.

I decided to continue experimenting and added another layer of orange, this time acrylic paint. Using a dry-brush technique I went over the orange. It gave it a very smooth look. Of course maybe I used too much oil but overall I do like the look I got in the end. Here’s my favorite slice. See the slideshow for more.   ~S

Canvas paper, acrylic paint, oil pastels, sunflower seed oil – abstract, free expression.
